RCB have a new head coach

Andy Flower has been named the new head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore starting IPL 2024, after the Bengaluru-based IPL franchise did not renew the contracts of Mike Hesson, director of cricket, and Sanjay Bangar, head coach. Flower’s contract runs until 2026.

Tamim out of Asia Cup

Tamin Iqbal, Bangladesh’s leading run-getter in ODIs, has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a back injury. Subsequently, he’s also quit as the team’s ODI skipper.

Cummins played with fractured wrist?

Pat Cummins reportedly played the fifth Ashes Test with a fractured wrist, which could put him in doubt for white-ball series against South Africa and India, ahead of the ODI World Cup.

Manoj Tiwary retires

Former India batter Manoj Tiwary has retired from all forms of cricket. He played 12 ODIs and three T20Is for India (2008 to 2015), alongside 96 IPL games. One of Bengal’s finest batters of his era, he ventured into politics in 2021, becoming the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports in West Bengal.

McGrath: India World Cup favourites

Glenn McGrath has tipped India to be favourites for the 50-over World Cup later this year, picking them as the team with the “best chance” among other title contenders England, Pakistan and Australia.

Williamson joins practice

Kane Williamson, recovering from an ACL injury sustained at the IPL, joined the New Zealand team training camp, taking another step in his recovery ahead of the World Cup. Still on the mend, he has started batting in the nets.
