Harry Brook hits one of cricket's biggest sixes out of the Headingley ground | The Hundred 2023

Watch: Harry Brook launched a six on the Headingley Cricket Ground roof while playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, emulating Liam Livingstone’s 122-metre six at the very ground in 2021.

Liam Livingstone’s six, off Pakistan’s Haris Rauf during a T20I, is considered among international cricket’s biggest sixes in recorded history. The ball reportedly landed on the rugby field next to the ground.

On Sunday, it was Brook’s turn to reach the roof while playing against Manchester Originals. He walked in at No.3 after the Superchargers were set 183. Slow at first, he picked up the run scoring with back-to-back fours against Paul Walter, before facing Usama Mir.

He clobbered the first ball he faced off the Pakistan leg-spinner over the roof: the ball bounced on the shade and disappeared behind it, evoking memories of Livingstone’s hit from two years ago. Unlike Livingstone, however, Brook’s shot came off a spinner.

Mir had his revenge three balls later. Trying to take on a flighted delivery, Brook holed out to long off to depart for a 14-ball 20. The Superchargers lost by 40 runs via the DLS method. Northern Superchargers are 11/2 to win The Hundred with Betway.
