The Hundred men’s team of the tournament so far

by Wisden Staff 5 minute read

The Hundred men’s competition is nearly two weeks in, so we’ve decided to take a look at the players who have impressed so far in the competition.

Trent Rockets currently sit at the top of the table and this team reflects their success – they have four representatives in the XI.

Jonny Bairstow – Welsh Fire

2 matches, 128 runs @ 64, SR: 170.66

Bairstow made quite the impression before departing for Test duty, striking explosive back-to-back half-centuries in two victories.

D’Arcy Short – Trent Rockets

4 matches, 134 runs @ 67, SR: 131.37

While not necessarily explosive at the top of the order, Short has been key in the Rockets’ strong start to the season, contributing two half-centuries in wins.

Ben Duckett – Welsh Fire

4 matches, 191 runs @ 47.75, SR: 142.53

The leading run-scorer in the men’s tournament, Duckett has delivered consistently for Welsh Fire – his lowest score so far is a 21-ball 32 against Manchester Originals.

Harry Brook – Northern Superchargers

4 matches, 175 runs @ 58.33, SR: 152.17

After an impressive group-stage campaign in the T20 Blast, Brook has taken his form into The Hundred and announced himself as a breakout star. Mainly operating in the middle order, Brook is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Liam Livingstone – Birmingham Phoenix

4 matches, 122 runs @ 61, SR: 150.61

Livingstone’s excellent summer continues. Having been on fire for England, Livingstone is currently Birmingham Phoenix’s leading run-scorer and he’s moved at a decent rate too.

Sam Billings (wk) – Oval Invincibles

4 matches, 92 runs @ 46, SR: 135.29 | 2 dismissals

Kicked off the men’s tournament with a match-winning 49 and helped his side to victory over the Fire on Monday with an unbeaten 40 in a chase of 122.

Jimmy Neesham – Welsh Fire

4 matches, 36 runs @ 12, SR: 200 | 6 wickets @ 12.33, 1.34

While his numbers with the ball are more impressive, Neesham showed his quality with the bat on debut with an 11-ball 30* against Northern Superchargers.

Rashid Khan – Trent Rockets

4 matches, 8 wickets @ 12.25, RPB: 1.22

Beyond his usual mastery with the ball, Rashid played a key role with the bat in Rockets’ dramatic win over the Superchargers, smashing 25 off just 12 balls.

Matthew Carter – Trent Rockets

3 matches, 5 wickets @ 12.60, RPB: 1.14

The tall off-spinner has shown fine control in the Powerplay and, like Rashid, was integral in the win over Superchargers, striking a quick unbeaten 13 in the dying stages of the match.

Adam Milne – Birmingham Phoenix

4 matches, 7 wickets @ 7.28, RPB: 0.78

The standout quick bowler in the tournament, Milne hasn’t just taken plenty of wickets – he’s been very, very hard to get away. He has the best economy rate in the tournament.

Marchant de Lange – Trent Rockets

4 matches, 8 wickets @ 10.25, RPB: 1.38

Remains the only man to have taken a five-wicket haul in the tournament and has put up some pretty impressive numbers on the speed gun too.
