The Hundred 2021: Birmingham Phoenix Women’s Team Preview, Squad List, Fixtures, Probable XI & Fantasy Draft Tips

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

In Shafali Verma, Birmingham Phoenix have arguably the most exciting overseas player in The Hundred. Here is a preview of the Edgbaston-based outfit.

The Hundred: Birmingham Phoenix women’s team preview

Birmingham Phoenix were meant to have Ellyse Perry in their team for The Hundred, arguably the greatest women’s cricketer of all time. However, with Perry’s withdrawal due to Covid-19 complications, their team is not quite as strong as it was. However, they still have India’s young superstar batter Shafali Verma at the top of the order, whose electric batting has lit up the recent England-India series, and who, on her day, can win a match single-handedly. Another young star in Birmingham Phoenix’s team is Issy Wong, whose pace as an opening bowler will be a valuable asset. If the Edgbaston crowd get behind them, Birmingham Phoenix have the quality to win the tournament.
