Stuart Broad warmed up for England’s upcoming series against India with an excellent spell for Nottinghamshire in their County Championship clash against Durham at Chester-le-Street.
Broad took 3-36 as Notts looked to consolidate their prospects of qualifying for Division One of this season’s County Championship. The first of those wickets was that of Australia opener Cameron Bancroft.
England’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket trapped Bancroft in front for nought off the third ball of the Durham innings, a dismissal that raised eyebrows on social media and even received comment from Bancroft’s Australia teammate David Warner.
Broad got the ball to jag back into Bancroft, striking the Durham opener high on his left pad. Warner responded to a video of the dismissal, shared by the Barmy Army, by saying: “Did you watch the football the other night [sic] tad high for my liking!!”

By avoiding defeat, as Notts look on course to do, they will seal a spot in the six-team Division One.
