The 16th edition of the Asia Cup will be played in the 50-over format and will be hosted by Pakistan. This will be the first time since the 2008 Asia Cup that the tournament will be played in Pakistan, albeit partially.

The 13-match event will be jointly held across Pakistan and Sri Lanka with the former hosting four games and the latter nine due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan owing to political tensions between the two countries.

The 2023 Asia Cup will have six teams participating, with Nepal making its debut in the tournament. The teams are divided into two groups of three each to start with. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the Super Fours where each team will play three games. The top two teams will then contest in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 17.

The tournament starts with hosts Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan. That will be the only match to be played in Multan, with the other three matches in Pakistan to be played in Lahore. India will play all their matches in Sri Lanka.
