All hands on deck to find Jofra Archer’s lost World Cup medal

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

A house move has left Jofra Archer searching for his Cricket World Cup medal while in lockdown.

Archer, 25, played a key role in helping England win the tournament in July last year, fronting up to bowl the super over that delivered victory over New Zealand at Lord’s.

But the quick, named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year last month after a breakthrough 2019, is currently unaware of the exact whereabouts of the medal he won.

Archer was asked about his medal by BBC 5 Live Radio and said: “The funny thing is… I had it hanging off a portrait someone did for me and sent to me, so I had my medal hanging on that.

“I moved flat and the picture is on the new wall but there’s no medal. I turned the house upside down for about a week but I still haven’t managed to find it. I know it should be in the house so I will keep eyes out for it, but I’ve gone mad looking for it already.”

With Archer in lockdown at home in the United Kingdom and no cricketing action on the near horizon, at least the Sussex paceman has time on his hands to find the prized possession.

“Trust me, there’s nothing else to do it in isolation. All hands on deck.”
