This is the ninth edition of the U19 Asia Cup. The first-ever U19 Asia Cup was held in 1989 in Bangladesh. India are the most successful nation in the tournament, having won it on seven occasions. They were also the joint champions of the 2012 edition of the tournament following a tie with Pakistan. Afghanistan won the tournament in 2017, and are the only other side to have been successful in the U19 Asia Cup.
India are led by Yash Dhull, Pakistan are led by Qasim Akram, Bangladesh by Rakibul Hasan, Afghanistan by Suliman Safi, and Sri Lanka by their all-rounder captain Dunith Wellalage.
