Tournament History: Victoria, along with New South Wales and Western Australia, were one of the three teams that played the inaugural season of the Sheffield Shield in 1892/93, emerging from the tournament as its first-ever winner. They have won the title 31 times since, with their most recent title win coming in the 2018-19 season.

Key Player: Nic Maddinson. The opening batsman finished the top run-getter of the 2019 Sheffield Shield season with 780 runs in seven matches at 86.66, with two hundreds and five-half centuries. If Victoria are to go one better this season, the 28-year-old will have to bring out his best yet again.
