Pakistan pacers Ahmed Daniyal and Shahnawaz Dahani have been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe due to injuries.
Ahmed suffered an injury on his left hamstring, while Dahani sustained an ankle injury during Pakistan’s training session on Sunday (November 24). They were sent for scans, which confirmed their injuries.
ZIM vs PAK: Replacements named for third ODI
They are set to fly back home and will start their recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Pakistan have named two replacements in Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan. The two were part of their humiliating series loss against Australia earlier. Abbas was the pick of the Pakistan players, while Jahandad debuted in the final match, having earned his maiden call-up due to his exploits in the 2024 Champions One-Day Cup. They have also been named in the subsequent T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting December 1 in Bulawayo. Ahmed has been replaced by Aamir Jamal in the three-match T20I series. He is a part of the ongoing ODIs.
Pakistan scripted a remarkable turnaround after losing the rain-hit first match by 80 runs following a top-order collapse. Debutant Abrar Ahmed picked up a four-wicket haul, becoming only the second Pakistan spinner to do so in his maiden ODI appearance. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 145. Chasing the paltry total, Saim Ayub's whirlwind 113 not out off 62 balls helped the tourists gun down the total in 18.2 overs without losing any wickets. Ayub scored his hundred off 53 deliveries, becoming the first Pakistan batter not named Shahid Afridi to smash an ODI hundred under 60 balls.

Pakistan’s spinners have now taken nine or more wickets in an ODI innings four times, with two of the previous instances also happening in Zimbabwe back in 2015.
