The incident occurred during the second delivery of the 20th over when Blessing Muzarabani sent down a slower ball to Tanvir Islam. The batter sent the ball straight to the right of the bowler and after a slight hesitation between him and the non-striker Rahman, ran down for a single. Muzarabani was not accurate with his throw and sent the ball towards third, who had enough time to throw the ball to the striker’s end where Curtis Campbell was backing up.

At this point, both the batters were at the other end and Campbell had an opportunity to run out Rahman. He fumbled initially but with Rahman nowhere in sight, could still have run out the Bangladesh pacer. He tried to throw an under-arm hit from a few metres away but missed despite being a few metres away, much to the disbelief of his teammates.

He was eventually dismissed on the last ball of the innings while looking for a big hit as Bangladesh were all out for 143. The hosts won by five runs with Rahman taking 3-19. Rahman flew back to Bangladesh from the 2024 Indian Premier League, where he was representing Chennai Super Kings, for the series.
