All you need to know about the new season of the WPL

The tournament is being played in an earlier window this year to avoid clashing with the men's T20 World Cup. Fewer venues will also be used, with the first half of the tournament taking place in Navi Mumbai before the second leg is played in Baroda. The same five franchises remain from previous seasons, with Mumbai Indians going into the season as defending Champions.

A mega-auction took place in November, in the biggest shake-up for the squads since the league began. The headlines were that Alyssa Healy went unsold after she was released by UP Warriorz, while Deepti Sharma attracted the highest bid of the auction.

The knockout stages will begin on February 3, with the Eliminator set to take place in Baroda. The final will follow on February 5, also set to be played in Baroda.

After a one-day gap, the season resumes on January 22, with four of the five teams locked on four points. It promises to be an exciting back half of the campaign.
