RCB lit the season opener
The current champions blazingly began their title defence after chasing a record target of 202 runs set by Gujarat Giants. This was not only the highest target gunned down in the tournament’s history but also only the second time a 200-plus total was successfully chased in women's T20s. The victory in the high-scoring encounter gave RCB two points and a net run-rate boost of 0.869, earning them the top spot in the WPL 2025 standings.
On the other hand, the Giants, having suffered heartbreak in their campaign opener, bounced back with a six-wicket victory against UP Warriorz, who were playing their first match of the year in Vadodara. The win propelled them from the bottom of the table to the second spot with two crucial points and an NRR of 0.118.
Both Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have dropped down by a spot and are third and fourth in the standings, respectively.
