UP Warriorz smashed the highest total in WPL history in Lucknow today (March 8), scoring 225-5 against RCB and denting their hopes of knockout qualification.
Despite being the first team eliminated from the competition, and having struggled to get their batting line-up firing all season, UP Warriorz blitzed their way into the tournament's record books in a crucial encounter against RCB.
Having been put into bat, Australia combo Grace Harris and Georgia Voll got the innings off to a flyer. They put on 77 off the first seven overs before Harris was run out by Smriti Mandhana well short of her ground. Kiran Navgire continued the work of the opening pair, smashing back-to-back sixes off Georgia Wareham and repeating the feat against Renuka Singh Thakur, before she was out attempting to hit a six to take her to the fastest half-century in WPL history.

With Voll already having reached 50, tournament break-out star with the bat Chinelle Henry came to the crease looking to repeat the explosions she gave UP against Delhi earlier in the tournament. However, she scored 19 off 15 balls before she too was sent back with 21 balls remaining in the innings.
Voll moved into the 90s by the end of the 18th over, now partnered with Sophie Ecclestone. The England spinner took a single off the first ball of the over to get Voll on strike, but was unable to bring her back on strike two balls later, and faced the final three balls of the over, taking eight runs from them. Voll then hit a four off the first ball of the last over and took two off the second, taking her to 97. She managed to squeeze a single off the next ball, but was unable to get back on strike when Ecclestone was bowled by England teammate Charlie Dean off the next ball.
With captain Deepti Sharma now in the middle, she managed to take a single to get Voll on strike facing the last delivery of the innings on 98. However, Voll hit the ball to mid-on, taking a single and coming back for an unlikely second, and denied the century when Deepti was run out trying to get back to the non-striker's end. She equalled Sophie Devine's record for the highest individual score in WPL history.
UP Warriorz 225-5 is the highest team total in WPL history, beating the previous record of 223-2 set by Delhi Capitals in the first edition of the competition. RCB must chase it down to stay in contention for the knockout stage of the competition.
