This year, defending champions Adelaide Strikers will look to win their third title on the trot. Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers are the only other franchises to have won two titles in a row. As part of their efforts, the Strikers have made a few big moves, with Smriti Mandhana, Laura Wolvaardt and Irish star Orla Prendergast all being signed.

Other star international players in the competition include Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Hayley Matthews, Chamari Athapaththu and Deandra Dottin. Indonesia's Ni Made Putri Suwandewi was also signed by Perth Scorchers five days ahead of the competition.
