Watch: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur shut down a reporter who questioned the "interest" in women's cricket during a pre-tournament press conference ahead of the Women's Asia Cup 2024.
Harmanpreet, along with the other seven captains, was fielding questions from reporters ahead of the Women's Asia Cup 2024. The T20 tournament will serve as a precursor to the Women's T20 World Cup, which will be held in October.
Seated in the press conference room in Colombo, the captains took questions one after another. One of the reporters directed a question at Harmanpreet, which the India captain did not seem to be impressed by.
"There have been concerns about the importance of women's cricket, especially after the Bangladesh tour," the reporter said. "There are less journalists appearing in press conferences. What is your opinion on this?"
Harmanpreet paused, before asking the reporter to repeat his question.
"There have been less importance for women's cricket, especially after India's tour of Bangladesh", repeated the journalist, asking Harmanpreet for her opinion on it.
"That's none of my business. You guys have to come and cover us!" she answered with a smile.
She continued to shake her head as the mic moved to the next reporter.
The Women's Asia Cup begins on July 19, with the opening game between UAE and Nepal. However, all eyes will be on the evening game, between India and Pakistan.
