Shreyanka Patil ruled out of 2024 Women's Asia Cup
In a press release ahead of India's Asia Cup group stage match against UAE, the BCCI said: "Team India all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup T20, 2024. Shreyanka Patil sustained a fracture on her left hand finger while fielding against Pakistan, on Friday.
"Following an expert consultation, the BCCI Medical team has ruled her out for the remainder of the tournament for optimal recovery and long-term management."

This is the second hand injury Patil has suffered in recent times. In March this year, she suffered a hairline fracture on her left hand but battled through it to help secure a first Women's Premier League (WPL) title for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Understandably, the Indian team management might be taking the more cautious route with Patil in this case, as the T20 World Cup is approaching in September. With the tournament being played in Bangladesh, she is likely to be an integral part of India's spin bowling attack. In a brief international career so far, she has shone with the ball.
Playing 12 T20Is since her debut against England in December 2023, Patil has picked up 16 wickets, with an economy rate of 7.1. She was also integral in India's Asia Cup opener against Pakistan, as she took the wickets of Aliya Riaz and Sadia Iqbal to take 2-14 and help bowl Pakistan out for just 108.

Tanuja Kanwar named as Patil's replacement
Her replacement in the side is Tanuja Kanwar. A left-arm spinning all-rounder, Kanwar has represented Himachal Pradesh and Railways on the Indian domestic circuit, and played for the Gujarat Giants in the WPL.
After being called up as Patil's replacement, she was also named in India's XI to take on UAE, making her international debut and receiving her cap from Renuka Singh Thakur.
Across 267 T20 matches, the 26-year-old has taken 401 wickets, including 15 in the WPL.
