South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in Guyana for the second Test of the two-match series. Both teams made changes to their sides after the drawn Test in Trinidad.
Shamar Joseph replaces Kemar Roach
The star West Indies quick Joseph, who sat out in the first Test, has returned to the XI in place of veteran pacer Kemar Roach. Roach registered figures of 2-53 and 1-39 in the first Test and has not been able to retain his place in the side.
This will mark the first Test on West Indies soil for the 24-year-old Joseph, who shot into limelight earlier this year with his heroics during the Test series against Australia. Currently, Joseph has 17 wickets from five Test matches at an average of 28.47. Two of those games have come in Australia, while three have come in England.

South Africa had gone in with only three front line bowling options in the first Test, with all-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Aiden Markram filling in as the fourth and fifth bowlers.
However, they have shored up the bowling department for the second Test, bringing in extra spin backup in the form of Dane Piedt in place of Ryan Rickleton, who made 19 in the only innings he batted in the first match. The visitors have also brought in left-arm seamer Nandre Burger in place of Lungi Ngidi, who took only one wicket across two innings in the first Test.
