Latest ICC rankings

Jayden Seales, Wiaan Mulder, Shamar Joseph all rose up the ICC Test rankings after the low-scoring Test match in Providence.

After rain prevented a result in the first Test match, at Port of Spain, South Africa won the second Test, at Providence, by 40 runs to claim the series 1-0.

Wiaan Mulder was named the Player of the Match for his 4-32 and 2-35 (and a second-innings 34). He also jumped 27 spots in the recent ICC Test ranking for bowlers to reach 65th place. Mulder’s compatriot Kagiso Rabada’s rating dropped to 820. He held on to the fourth place, but he now has to share with Pat Cummins, while Keshav Maharaj remained at 21st.

The West Indian fast bowlers gained ground as well. Jayden Seales claimed 3-45 and 6-61 to move up 13 places to reach a career-best 13th spot, the best for his team. Shamar Joseph went wicketless in the second innings, but his first-innings 5-33 was enough for him to leap 11 places to reach 54th place.

Aiden Markram’s second-innings 51 in a low-scoring Test helped him rise two places to 21st, one behind Temba Bavuma, who slipped four places. With 21 and 59, Kyle Verreynne made significant improvement – up 16 places to joint 46th.

Kraigg Brathwaite’s indifferent form resulted in him drop four places to 46th, but Jason Holder (54 not out to lift his team from 56-6 to 144) rose seven spots to reach 60th.

Holder’s rise in batting rankings was enough to offset his sliding one spot on the bowling ranking, to 29th. He moved up two places on the all-rounders list to enter the top five.
