West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph has been sanctioned for abusing the fourth umpire before the start of the first ODI against Bangladesh in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Before the start of the series opener on Sunday, Joseph reportedly abused the fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite after being asked to not step onto the pitch with his spikes on.
As per the latest judgement, Joseph breached Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with the "use of an audible obscenity during an International Match".
As a result, Joseph has been handed a demerit point, his second offence in the last two years. He has also been fined 25 per cent of his match fee. The fast bowler admitted to the offence and accepted the penalty.
Mark Taylor is not pleased with Mohammed Siraj's tendency to celebrappeal, calling it "disrespectful".

On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Leslie Reifer, third umpire Asif Yaqoob along with Brathwaite filed the charges.
Level 1 violations carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, one or two demerit points.
West Indies won the first ODI by five wickets, breaking their 11-match losing streak against Bangladesh. The hosts gunned down 295 with 14 balls remaining, thanks to Sherfane Rutherford’s maiden ODI century. Rutherford, riding his 113 off 80 balls, has a total of 443 runs, the highest by a West Indies player after eight innings in men's ODI history. Overall, it’s the fifth-highest tally.
The second ODI will be played today at Warner Park in Basseterre, the same venue that hosted the series opener.
