Most Consecutive Tests Played - Kraigg Brathwaite breakes Gary Sobers' record

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite broke a national record when he stepped onto the field against Bangladesh for the second Test of the series in Kingston, Jamaica yesterday (November 30).

Brathwaite, who made his debut in 2011, is playing the 96th Test of his career. Since his debut, West Indies have played 113 matches in the longest format. However, since the second Test of the home series against New Zealand in 2014, the opener has not missed a single Test, with the ongoing game against Bangladesh being his 86th consecutive match.

In this process, he has broken the long-standing West Indies record of Gary Sobers, who played 85 consecutive Test matches between 1955 and 1972. The next few West Indians on this list are Desmond Haynes (72 matches), Brian Lara (64 matches), and Rohan Kanhai and Viv Richards (61 matches each).

Allan Border (153), Mark Waugh (107), Sunil Gavaskar (106), Brendon McCullum (101), and Nathan Lyon (100) are the others to have played more than a hundred consecutive Tests.

The record for not missing a single Test in their entire career is held by McCullum, who played each of the 101 Tests New Zealand played between his debut and retirement.
