Bangladesh defeated West Indies by a record margin in the final match of the three-match T20I series in Kingstown yesterday (December 19).
Bangladesh cleanly swept the three-match T20I series with a record 80-run win in the final fixture at Arnos Vale Ground. The margin of victory was their second-biggest ever in the format, and biggest ever against a Full Member nation, in terms of runs.
Bangladesh became the third team after India and England to whitewash West Indies in a T20I series in their backyard (although the India series had two matches in Lauderhill, Florida).
It also sealed their first overseas T20I whitewash in a three-match series for 12 years, having last done so against Ireland in Belfast in 2012. Notably, the current 3-0 win is their first against a Full Member nation, as Ireland only gained this status in 2017.
The win was orchestrated by Jaker Ali, who continued his stellar form with an unbeaten 72. Jaker had walked off the ground when he was on 18, thinking he had been run out following a mix-up with Shamim Hossain.
But the TV umpire instead deemed Shamim out as he had got inside the crease later than Jaker. A dramatic turnaround followed the reprieve as Jaker hit six sixes and three fours during his 41-ball blitzkrieg. Earlier, Parvez Hossain Emon, coming in for the injured Soumya Sarkar, had scored 39 off 21 deliveries to power Bangladesh to 54 in the powerplay.
Zimbabwe have announced their squad with seven uncapped players for the Afghanistan Tests, including Ben Curran, son of Kevin Curran and brother of England cricketers Tom and Sam Curran.

The tourists had a late flourish, taking 25 runs in the last over, their best-ever 20th over. Jaker hit Alzarri Joseph for three sixes off the last four balls of the innings to take Bangladesh to 189-7, their highest score in the West Indies.
In response, the West Indies were bowled out for 109 in 16.4 overs to succumb to the heavy loss. Rishad Hossain was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up 3-21.
Final score: Bangladesh 189-7 (Jaker Ali 72*, Romario Shepherd 2-30) BEAT West Indies 109 (Romario Shepherd 33, Rishad Hossain 3-21) by 80 runs.
