South Africa swept the West Indies 2-0 in the Test series, but the tourists hit back in the ODIs. After the first match was washed out, they took lead in the series with a 48-run win in the second, before the hosts won the decider to level the series 1-1.
The teams will now play three T20Is – two late afternoon matches in Centurion on March 25 and 26, and at a night match in Johannesburg on March 28.
South Africa have not merely replaced Temba Bavuma as captain but have also dropped him from the squad. Aiden Markram will lead them. The squad features top-draw Twenty20 cricketers like Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje, along with the exciting Tristan Stubbs and Sisanda Magala.
Rovman Powell, who had led the West Indies as a stand-in option against New Zealand last year, will captain the tourists for an entire series for the first time, with Kyle Mayers as his deputy. The squad includes former captains Jason Holder and Nicholas Pooran, along with senior men Johnston Charles and Sheldon Cottrell.
