On Day 3 of the first Test between West Indies and England at Lord's, veteran James Anderson pulled off a superb diving save to prevent a boundary on his final day on the field as a Test cricketer.
At the start of play on Day 3, West Indies trailed by 171 runs with four wickets in hand after Jason Holder was dismissed off the final delivery of Day 2. Alzarri Joseph walked out at number eight to join wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva in the middle.
Joseph decided to take the aggressive route with his side so far behind, even swatting Gus Atkinson down the ground with a horizontal bat. But despite the contrasting, defensive, approach of da Silva, he was the first to go on the day as he nicked James Anderson through to keeper Jamie Smith.

While Anderson was the focus of the day for his exploits with the ball over the last 21 years, he caught the eye in the field as well. West Indies' No.9 Gudakesh Motie timed a wide delivery from Atkinson over cover, and the ball appeared to be heading to the boundary.
But chasing after it was the veteran fast bowler, who put his 41-year-old body on the line to dive and rein the ball in to save one run. Even on his last day as a Test cricketer, Anderson displayed the same enthusiasm and commitment to the game as he did in his prime.
