With West Indies reeling at 79-6 by the end of day two, still requiring 171 runs to make England bat again. The writing was on the wall. Day three was certain to be the last day of the first England-West Indies Test.
After the West Indies players' plan to give Anderson a guard of honour on day two as he came out to bat one final time failed due to Mikyle Louis' celebrations after running Shoaib Bashir out, they carried it out on day three along with Anderson's teammates.

Anderson added one more wicket to his overnight tally of two, and finished with 3-32 in his final Test innings, as England won the match by an innings and 114 runs.
