Watch: James Anderson delighted a cheering crowd in front of the Lord's dressing room balcony by downing a pint of Guinness in seconds after completing his final Test match.
Anderson bowed out of Test cricket after the first Test against the West Indies, with England completing a dominant win inside seven sessions. England's greatest-ever fast-bowler retires having played 188 Tests and taken 704 wickets, only behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne in the all-time Test wicket-taker standings.
In the Test match, Anderson took four wickets, including two beauties in the second innings, one of which bowled Kraigg Brathwaite and the other took Joshua Da Sliva's outside edge. After walking off the field to rapturous applause from the Lord's crowd, tributes poured in from pundits at the ground and online commentators alike praising Anderson's career.
Just minutes after leaving the field, Anderson was interviewed in the England dressing room by Nasser Hussain for Sky Sports Cricket, with the team already celebrating with Guinnesses in hand. After the presentation ceremony was done, the real celebrations began.
In videos posted on social media, a crowd can be seen to have gathered underneath the balcony to the England dressing room, with fans cheering for Anderson to come out. With Stuart Broad also seen in the dressing room in the video, Joe Root was filmed handing Anderson a pint, while Ben Stokes hyped up the crowd in anticipation of Anderson's appearance. When he did make it out onto the balcony, Anderson wasted no time. After acknowledging the crowd with a raise of his glass, he got straight down to busines, downing the pint in under seven seconds before disappearing straight back into the dressing room.
A true man of the people.
