Stokes' reaction to Crawley run out

Watch: England captain Ben Stokes was left frustrated after Zak Crawley was run out while backing up too far at the start of England's second innings against West Indies at Trent Bridge today (July 20).

England started their second innings with a deficit of 41 runs after the last-wicket pair of Shamar Joseph and Joshua da Silva had added 71 runs earlier in the day.

Crawley, who made a duck in the first innings, edging a back of length ball by Alzarri Joseph to slip in the first over of the match, would have wanted to rectify things in the second on a flat wicket. However, luck wasn't on his side as he was unfortuantely run out at the non-striker's end while backing up too far.

On the fourth ball of the second over of the innings, Ben Duckett played a beautiful straight drive off Jayden Seales, only for it to deflect of the bowler's fingers onto the stumps at the non-striker's end. Crawley plonked his bat down and the players didn't look too interested immediately. But replays showed his bat was in the air when the bails were dislodged, forcing him to make the long walk back for three off four balls.

The cameras panned to Stokes as Crawley was walking back, and the England captain was clearly not pleased with proceedings as his shake of the head showed.

Like the first innings, Duckett and Ollie Pope steadied the ship as England went into tea 116-1, leading by 75 runs.
