Roach ruled out

Veteran West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series in England due to a knee injury.

West Indies will be playing three Test matches in England, starting July 10 at Lord's. They have been dealt a big blow much before the start of the tour as their most experienced fast bowler, Kemar Roach, has been ruled out of the series.

A Cricket West Indies release today (June 27) announced that Roach has been replaced in the squad due to his "ongoing rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained during the County Championship in England".

Roach played six games for Surrey in Division One of the 2024 County Championship, picking 18 wickets from 11 games. He has a good record in England, having taken 27 wickets from eight Tests in the country at an average of 33.11.

Uncapped Jeremiah Louis replaces Roach

Roach has been replaced by 28-year-old uncapped fast bowler Jeremiah Louis. Louis has 151 first-class wickets from 57 matches at an average of 25.43. His younger brother, 23-year-old Mikyle Louis, is already part of the West Indies squad for the England Tests. West Indies' Test tour will involve three games, at Lord's, Trent Bridge, and Edgbaston.

“Kemar’s skill and experience in English conditions will be missed however this opportunity has been long in the making for Jeremiah Louis, he certainly has the skill and experience to make an impact in England,” said chief selector Desmond Haynes.
