Besides flagging off their Test match summer, the game will be James Anderson’s last hurrah at the international level. With Stuart Broad calling the curtains on his career in the Ashes last year, England will transition into a new era where they will be without the top two prolific wicket-takers in their history.
Despite enduring a difficult Ashes and subsequent tour of India in a career which peaked in the latter half, Anderson will enter into his final match in form. Playing his first competitive match since March, Anderson took a five-wicket haul for Lancashire last week, stirring a debate about whether he should have continued playing.

The second match of the series will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from July 18, followed by the third, at Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 26.
West Indies have named an inexperienced squad under Kraigg Brathwaite, while Ben Stokes will lead an XI that includes two uncapped players in Jamie Smith and Dillon Pennington.
