Watch: Marnus Labuschagne surprised everyone by producing an excellent bouncer to Tagenarine Chanderpaul at Perth.
Labuschagne had already made history in the match by becoming just the eighth player to score a double-century and a century in the same Test after he added 104 not out to his first innings 204.
But over 300 runs for the game wasn’t enough to Labuschagne who has in recent years developed his seam bowling to go alongside his more traditional leg-spin.
With the chance to bowl a few overs, Labuschagne sent down two overs of medium-fast as he at times went close to touching 80mph on the speed gun.
What no one was expecting though, was the short ball. Least of all Chanderpaul, on Test debut, who ducked out of the way at the last second to avoid impact.
“I tell you what, that’s the most uncomfortable he’s looked all innings,” said Isa Guha on commentary.
