Watch: A “Mitchell Starc special” dismissed Joshua da Silva during day three of the first Australia-West Indies Test.
The first ball of the 85th over of the innings by Starc was a 145.1kph full-length delivery, which swung back into the batter. Da Silva, who looked to drive, remained stuck in his crease after being beaten by pace and the amount of swing on offer. The new ball came back in and snuck through the bat-pad gap before dismantling the middle and off-stump, leading to Da Silva’s dismissal for a duck.
“That’s a Mitchell Starc special, a big inswinger – stumps everywhere” said the commentator as West Indies fell to 245-6 after the hosts made 598-4 declared in their first innings.
It was Starc’s third wicket of the day, as he ended with 3-51. West Indies were dismissed for 283 in their first innings.
