Warner averages just 20.61 in Test cricket in 2022, a figure that drops to 17.50 in the Australian summer. Across his 99-Test-long career, his average at home has been 57.31.
In the first innings, Warner fell for a golden duck to a Rabada short ball that he succeeded only in fending to Khaya Zondo at short-leg who took an excellent catch.
This innings, he scored three before slashing at a Rabada delivery where Sarel Erwee at third slip took a catch that rivalled the quality of Zondo’s in the first innings.
Australia were chasing just 34 for victory in the opening match of the three-game series between the two sides. Yet, they lost four wickets as a mini-collapse preceded their eventual victory.
