Australia and West Indies have both announced their Test squads for their two-match series set to start on November 30, 2022 – here are the Australia v West Indies 2022 Test squad and team lists.
The biggest squad news in the build-up to the tour has been the inclusion of Tagenarine Chanderpaul, son of West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul, in the visitors’ squad. The 26-year-old boosted his chances of opening the batting by scoring a century in West Indies’ warm-up match against Prime Minister’s XI. Roston Chase and Shamarh Brooks also won returns to the West Indies squad, but Rahkeem Cornwall missed out despite being the leading wicket-taker in West Indies domestic four-day cricket this year.
Marcus Harris returns to Australia’s squad after being overlooked for their 1-1 series draw against Sri Lanka earlier this year and Travis Head keeps his place despite averaging less than 20 since his twin centuries in the last Ashes series. The hosts have named a slimmed down, 13-man squad representing a downsize in the number of players needed for series’ since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first Test of the West Indies tour of Australia will be played at Perth Stadium, with the second match due to take place at the Adelaide Oval between December 8 and 12. The fixture in Adelaide is set to be a day/night match.
