During the course of his century for Vidarbha against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, discarded India batter Karun Nair broke the List A world record for the most runs scored between dismissals.
The sixth round of matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy saw Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh face off in Group D in Vizianagaram. UP were sent in to bat, and posted an imposing 307-8 thanks in large part to Sameer Rizvi's century (105), with contributions also coming from Madhav Kaushik, Priyam Garg and Shivam Mavi.
In the chase, Vidarbha skipper Karun Nair came to the crease in the 12th over with the score 63-1 after Dhruv Shorey had been dismissed by Rinku Singh.

Nair (112) and Yash Rathod (138*) then put on 228 runs for the second wicket, a team record, before Nair departed with the side just 17 runs short of victory. But by the time he was dismissed, he had set a world record.
When he reached his century, Nair's last five List A scores read (from latest): 100*, 111*, 163*, 44* and 112*, meaning he had scored 530 runs without being dismissed in the current Vijay Hazare Trophy season.

His last dismissal in List A cricket came over a year ago, in last season's tournament where he was bowled by Vyshak Vijaykumar for five against Karnataka. By the time he was dismissed here, he had scored 542 runs between dismissals – a new world record, breaking New Zealand batter James Franklin's previous record of 527 runs.
Franklin had registered scores of 70*, 45*, 77*, 108*, 72*, 98*, 17* and 40 between dismissals for Gloucestershire, New Zealand and Wellington between August 2010 and January 2011.
The 33-year-old Nair has played six Tests and two ODIs for India, and is one of just two Indians alongside Virender Sehwag to score a triple century at the international level. His last international match came against Australia in 2017, and there has been little to suggest he will earn a recall any time soon.
But if his recent form is anything to go by, it's safe to say he is producing everything he can to be back in the frame.
