Rashid Khan helicopter shot six

Watch: At Trent Bridge in the 2024 edition of The Hundred, Rashid Khan of the Trent Rockets hit an absurd helicopter shot off Luke Wells of the Welsh Fire for six.

Welsh Fire posted 129-6 after Trent Rockets captain Lewis Gregory won the toss and opted to field. Luke Wood got his namesake Luke Wells with the first ball of the match, but Wells’s opening partner Jonny Bairstow hit a 45-ball 55. Visiting captain Tom Abell, too, contributed with a 26-ball 33. For the hosts, Sam Cook claimed 2-22 and Imad Wasim 2-23, while Rashid Khan went for 0-33 in 20 balls.

The Rockets openers, Tom Banton and Alex Hales, added only 36 off 28 balls. When Rashid walked out at No.6 to join Sam Hain, they needed 36 in 23 balls.

Rashid immediately wafted Haris Rauf to the fine-leg fence. When Hain gave him the strike against Wells at the other end, Rashid played an incredible shot.

As Wells tossed the ball outside the off stump, Rashid generated incredible power from his bottom wrist to produce a helicopter shot that soared over long-off for six. It was a very difficult stroke against a spinner, for the entire force had to come from his bottom hand. Yet, Rashid pulled it off to perfection.

Unfortunately, Rashid was run out soon afterwards. Then, with nine to defend in seven balls, the Fire struck with three consecutive balls – David Payne took the first two wickets, and Rauf the third – and won by four runs.
