Players in The Hundred will be wearing black armbands today to honour the memory of Graham Thorpe.

Following the passing of former England batter Graham Thorpe on Monday (August 5), players in The Hundred will wear black armbands in his memory.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced Thorpe's passing on Monday morning, stating that "the cricket world is in mourning today." The batter represented his country in 100 Test matches in addition to 189 first-class matches for Surrey, and captained England in three ODIs.

In his memory, players in The Hundred will be wearing black armbands as they take the field today. As usual, today's set of matches will see the Women's Hundred fixture played at 3:00pm local time, before the men's fixture at 6:30pm. Between the games, all four teams involved will also observe a minute's silence.

Today's matches in the Hundred will see the Welsh Fire take on the Southern Brave. This is a meeting of polar opposites in the women's competition, as the Fire have won three of their four matches so far and are coming off a relatively comfortable six-wicket win over the Trent Rockets. The Brave, meanwhile sit bottom of the table with no wins and one tie in four matches thus far.

It is a slightly more even matchup in the men's competition. The Fire avoided suffering a three-match losing streak by defeating the Rockets by four runs in their last outing, and now have two wins in four matches. The Brave have three wins, with the latest of those coming against Birmingham Phoenix by 32 runs.
