The Oval Invincibles scored an intimidating 186-5 off their hundred balls after being put into bat by the Manchester Originals at the Kia Oval. Their top three contributed heavily, with each going past thirty.

Jason Roy scored a 42-ball 59; Will Jacks scored 32 off 13; and Heinrich Klaasen scored 60 off 27. Jordan Cox and Sam Billings then gave the finishing touches.

Johnson opened the bowling for the Invincibles. Having just returned from his stint in the Global T20 Canada, the tall left-arm fast bowler was making his debut in the Hundred. Now 27, he demonstrated why he is considered a potential all-format prospect in Australia.

He did not concede a single run off the bat from his first set of five balls. The next set brought just a single as Phil Salt played and missed multiple times.

Johnson returned after the 60-ball mark. He bowled 10 balls on the trot, gave no runs, and picked three wickets. Usama Mir tried to slog a short ball and was caught at mid off before Johnson dismantled the stumps of Tom Hartley and Josh Little to cap off a remarkable spell of fast bowling.

From 58-6 after 60 balls, the visitors were reduced to 58-9 from 70. Johnson’s 10-ball burst effectively sealed the game. Jamie Overton struck some late blows to stretch the Originals’ total to 92 before Gus Atkinson dismissed him to hand the hosts a 94-run victory.
