The Northern Superchargers started poorly with the bat after having won the toss. Their top three registered scores of two, zero, and zero as they found themselves going nowhere at 10-3 after 20 balls.

That is when Brook came in at No.5 and played one of the best innings in the history of the tournament. He scored 105 off 42 balls, hitting 11 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 250, while the rest of the team combined scored 53, ten of which came through extras.

Contrary to the start that the Superchargers got, Welsh Fire started well. Stephen Eskinazi came out all guns blazing as he smashed 58 off 28 balls. Jonny Bairstow anchored the chase before he was finally dismissed for 44 off 39 with the team score at 140. Bairstow’s dismissal came about thanks to another memorable piece of brilliance by Brook, after having already played an unbelievable knock earlier in the day.

Bairstow pulled a short ball by Brydon Carse towards deep square leg where Brook was stationed. As soon as he caught the ball, Brook realised that he was losing his balance. He threw the ball in the air as he went beyond the boundary line and jumped back in to catch the ball.

Having caught the ball a second time, inside the boundary line, Brook lost his balance once again, forcing him to repeat his act of throwing the ball in the air. By that time, Adam Hose, who was fielding at long leg, had made his way close to Brook. Realising the presence of his teammate, this time Brook threw the ball towards Hose, who completed a safe catch in the end.

Welsh Fire won the game by eight wickets and with ten balls to spare, but the night surely belonged to Brook, who was also awarded Player of the Match.
