The batting all-rounder was batting for the first time in the IPL, and set the stage on fire with a 6-ball 25. He began with a boundary over extra cover region against Alzarri Joseph in the 19th over, but things were to get better in the final over.
He went berserk against IPL’s fastest bowler of the season, Lockie Ferguson, and smashed him for a hat-trick of sixes. He pulled the first one for a six over midwicket region, ramped the second one for a six over fine-leg boundary, and hit the third down the ground over the long-off fielder.
After the third six, Ian Bishop said on commentary, “Travelling, travelling, travelling. Just enough! What a finishing touch, and finishing kick to this innings by Shashank Singh. 25 off the over.”
After the first innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad stood at 195-6.
The knock won him high praise from former India coach, Ravi Shastri.
You rock big time to allow millions to dream. Unbelievable @IPL for the stage you provide for opportunities to the unknown. Shashank Singh. Wow. @SunRisers #IPL2022 pic.twitter.com/Wa0r7hBkUT
