Umran, one of the players retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the mega auction, has set the IPL 2022 on fire with his scintillating pace and accurate fast bowling. He has picked up 15 wickets in eight games at an average of 15.93. His best figures of 5-25 came in today’s game against Gujarat Titans.
In the middle of this fiery spell, he managed to dislodge Gujarat Titans opener Saha, who had kept his side afloat with a 38-ball 68. In the 14th over, Umran bowled a searing yorker which smashed the batter’s stumps and cleaned him up. This wicket also won a silent smile from the former South Africa great Dale Steyn in the Sunrisers Hyderabad dugout.
The wicket left Gujarat at 122-3. Umran would return in the 16th over to reduce the side to 140-5. The first five wickets of the Gujarat innings all fell into the fast bowler’s account.
