David, batting at No.3, hit four sixes against Natarajan in the 18th over of Mumbai’s chase of 194, smashing three of them off successive balls from the left-arm seamer. The final six, off the fifth ball– a full toss – was launched from knee-length to the cow corner stands, settling in the upper tier of the Wankhede Stadium.

Liam Livingstone still holds the honours for the longest six of the tournament so far, measured at 117 metres.

The hat-trick of sixes, though, couldn’t take bottom-ranked Mumbai to their fourth win of IPL 2022. Off the very next ball, David was run out trying to keep strike for the next over. The dismissal brought an end to David’s 18-ball, 46-run cameo. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then bowled an immaculate 19th over – a wicket maiden – with Hyderabad eventually clinching a win by three runs.
