Chennai Super Kings batting all-rounder Shivam Dube played arguably the knock of the 2022 IPL so far in his side’s clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mumbai.
Dube, alongside IPL veteran Robin Uthappa, helped CSK recover from 60-2 after 10 overs to post an imposing final total of 216-4 – the highest total of the 2022 IPL so far. The pair put on 165 runs together, the highest ever IPL third-wicket partnership.
The pair’s acceleration was brutal. At the halfway point of the innings Dube and Uthappa were on 16 (14) and 23 (22) before finishing on 95* (46) and 88 (50) respectively.
One of the shots of the innings was Dube’s monster hit off the bowling of Australia T20 World Cup winner Josh Hazlewood. Off the first ball of the final CSK over, Dube launched Hazlewood for a huge six over the bowler’s head – the blow was later measured at 102 metres.
