Caught by surprise, the opener ducked and seemed to take his eyes off the ball, but left his bat up as he turned his head. To the surprise of Murali Kartik on commentary, the ball flew off the middle of de Kock’s hanging bat and sailed over the third man boundary for six. De Kock’s reaction, however, suggested there was some intent in the stroke, with him recreating the shot in discussion with his batting partner Deepak Hooda.

On 53 at the time of the beamer, the opener went on to score 80 off 52 balls to lead the Super Giants to a six wicket victory with two balls remaining.
