The incident occurred off the fourth ball of the 20th over when RCB’s No.7 Lomror skied a full ball from Alzarri Joseph to long-on, where Miller took a fine, backpedaling catch. Lomror, though, instantly pointed out that the ball might have hit one of the overhanging cables, even as the Titans fielders started celebrating. The umpires referred it upstairs, after which Nitin Menon proceeded to view the footage from various angles.
While most of the angles couldn’t distinctly suggest a deviation, one of the replays showed that the ball had come into contact with one of the cables. Interestingly, the cable wasn’t attached to the Spidercam, usually observed to be the culprit during such incidents: according to on-air commentator Sunil Gavaskar, it was connected to the satellite feed.
The umpire eventually signalled it a dead ball, with Lomror hitting the next ball for a four.
