Watch: A camera operator stationed at the boundary line during the Mumbai Indians-Rajasthan Royals IPL 2022 game copped a blow to his head, with fielder Trent Boult promptly coming to his aid after a six landed on him.

Varma, who was part of India’s 2020 U19 World Cup unit, earned his maiden IPL contract this year after being acquired by MI. So far, the left-hander has shown plenty of promise, scoring 22 and 61 from No.4, even though both games ended with defeats for Mumbai.
On Saturday, he cracked his maiden IPL fifty, raising Mumbai’s hopes of chasing down RR’s 193-run total in a boundary-laden knock. He was especially punishing towards spinners, hitting four out of his five sixes against them.
One of his sixes, against off-spinner Riyan Parag, turned out to be a cause of concern for an on-field cameraman and those around him. In the 12th over of the chase, Varma lifted Parag over long-off’s head, and while the ball cleared the boundary ropes, it landed on the head of an unsuspecting cameraman, stationed right at the edge.
Boult, at the ropes, was quick to call for help, promptly checking on the cameraman, who staggered to the ground, before getting up while still rubbing his head. A thumbs up from the cameraman confirmed that he was fine, but Boult ensured that he was tended to before the next delivery was bowled. Replays suggested that his headphones might have helped cushion some of the impact.
