Watch: Out-of-form Mumbai Indians opener Ishan Kishan was dismissed in bizarre fashion off Ravi Bishnoi, with an under-edge ricocheting onto wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock’s boot before lobbing up to first slip in IPL 2022.

The dismissal occurred on the first ball of the 8th over: Ravi Bishnoi had been brought into the attack for the first time and bowled a short delivery wide outside off stump. Kishan tried to reach it but only managed an inside edge that bounced off the keeper’s left boot and lobbed up, enabling Jason Holder to complete a juggling catch.

Prior to his departure, Kishan had looked like a pale shadow of himself: he couldn’t find any rhythm and laboured his way to eight runs off 20 balls. With his partner struggling, Rohit Sharma had to shoulder the run-scoring burden at the other end. The current India captain got off to a brisk start but post-Kishan and Dewald Brevis’ dismissals, he too fell to Krunal Pandya, leaving MI tottering in pursuit of a 169-run target.
