Chasing 186, Pant came in to bat with Delhi Capitals on 30-2 in 3.4 overs. He made a steady 26-ball 28 before edging Yuzvendra Chahal straight to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. Pant walked off visibly frustrated. He was then spotted venting his anger by hitting a part of the sight screen with his bat on his way back to the pavilion.

That was the second time Pant was out after making a start since his return from the harrowing road accident. Against Punjab Kings in Delhi Capitals’ opening match, Pant fell for 18 off 13 while trying to guide a short ball from Harshal Patel to the third man.
After Pant’s dismissal, Tristan Stubbs tried to take Delhi over the line with his 44 off 23 as Avesh Khan bowled a brilliant 18th and 20th over to restrict 173-5.
