Punjab Kings were well on their way to their target of 175 halfway through their innings. With only three wickets down, they needed 77 runs off 54 ball at the beginning of the 12th over, with Sam Curran well set at the crease and Jitesh on eight off seven at the other end.
Looking to make the breakthrough, Kuldeep Yadav came on to bowl the over, having dismissed Prabhsimran Singh in his previous over. A couple of singles off the first two balls brought Jitesh back on strike for his third delivery. Kuldeep bowled way down the off side and Jitesh attempted an expansive reverse sweep. He missed the ball by miles, however, and his momentum on the follow through from the shot saw him do an almost 360 degrees spin, jumping to avoid falling over.
Despite being slightly off-balance and falling back, Pant took the ball and quickly broke the wicket. The replays showed that Jitesh had jumped just out of his crease in his attempt to maintain balance, and he was dismissed for nine off as many balls.
It was a second wicket for Kuldeep, who finished his spell with figures of 2-21 off four overs. It couldn’t prevent Punjab Kings from advancing further towards their target, however, with Curran leading the way with an excellent half-century.
