Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers who have dominated throughout IPL 2024, strode out after captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.

Mitchell Starc’s two first balls pitched outside the off stump and moved away, and Abhishek swung and missed. He played the third ball to cover and the fourth towards deep third. Off the latter, he was almost run out while attempting a second run.

Starc pitched the fifth ball on the middle stump. Abhishek played on the right line and perhaps even covered for the slightest of movement, but the ball deviated late enough to beat the bat and hit the stop of the off stump.

Vaibhav Arora had Head caught behind off the first ball of the second over, while Rahul Tripathi holed out while trying to hit out against Starc. At the time of writing, SRH were 40-3 after six overs with Aiden Markram (15) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (8) at the crease.
