Samson’s brilliant knock of 86 (46) came to an end when he holed out to Shai Hope at long-on. Hope balanced himself precariously by the boundary ropes as he completed the catch, but it couldn’t be ascertained whether his boot touched the padding as he teetered dangerously.
The commentators weren’t convinced: the third umpire seemingly rushed through the footage and deemed Samson out. By this time, Samson had walked towards the dugout and then turned back, and was seen having an intense discussion with the umpires. As the commentators pointed out, he couldn’t opt for a referral, the option having timed out.
The cameras panned towards Parth Jindal – director of JSW Sports – which runs the Capitals. The 33-year-old Jindal was seen violently waving his arms, mouthing ‘Out’ as Samson spoke to the umpires.
“You can see Parth Jindal very vocal about the decision there!”, said commentator Shane Watson, looking at the clip after the game.
Before the dismissal, RR needed 42 off 22 with six wickets in hand. They eventually lost by 20 runs.
There were several reactions to Jindal’s exaggerated gestures from the stands.
What was that from Jindal?

Wondering if the ICC code of conduct applies to team owners. Because Parth Jindal out in the stands is Crass Max Pro and deserves a suspension! 🙄 #RRvsDC #IPL2024
